Galway WFC bolster squad in advance of visit of Cork

In advance of their home tie with Cork Women’s FC this Sunday, Galway WFC has added to their squad by announcing the signing of five players from this year’s FAI Intermediate finalists Colga FC.

The players were signed by Galway WFC Manager Nigel Keady following their outstanding performances for the Kilcolgan based club, which just saw them lose out narrowly 1-0 in the final to Doughlas Hall FC.

The players signed are Marian Murray, Keara Cormican, Leah Philips, Susie Cunningham and Alana Moran.  Commenting on the signings Keady said, “we are delighted to finally be able to able to sign these players, their success with Colga had delayed their signing until this week.”  The signings are a welcome addition to the squad which was left light in numbers following the opening two weeks of the Bus Éireann Women’s National League which saw many players on the treatment table.

Keady is hopeful for a big turnout in Eamonn Deacy Park this Sunday Sept 15th

at 2pm.  He believes “the home crowd were a big factor in helping us come from behind twice in our opening home game.  I have no doubt that we will see many of those supporters return on Sunday along with many more who will be attracted by the quality of football on display.”
