Galway WFC’s journey in the Bus Éireann WNL resumes when they travel to the capital this weekend to take on Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght Stadium at 2pm.  It will be a welcome return to action for the new club following the break which saw international action take centre stage in the Women’s game.

In advance of the game Galway WFC has further added to their squad.  With the WNL transfer window closing on September 30th the club swooped for Cork  Women’s FC’s Lynsey McKey.  McKey was a star player for Cork for the last 2 seasons and indeed was their player of the year last season.  She will add firepower to a Galway attack which already sees itself as the third most productive in the league.

Manager Nigel Keady believes “the international break was very beneficial for us.  We managed to get in some very competitive training sessions along with a friendly match against the Irish Defence forces.  This has been very useful as some difficult decisions had to be made in finalising the squad in advance of the transfer window closing.”

“Shamrock Rovers have a long football history and tradition.  We are looking forward to the game on Sunday.  I know our girls will be up for the occasion and hopefully will be able to come away with a result.”
