Galway turned in a five star performance to grab their first win of the season and run out 5 nil winners over Cork City in Eamonn Deacy Park.

Things could have been very different if 'keeper Tina Hughes had not come to the rescue of the Galway Girls in the opening minutes when she pushed a Vanessa Ogbonna shot out for a corner.  Galway opened the scoring on 10 minutes when Lynsey McKey fired home from the edge of the box.  On 18 minutes Eleanor Stafford saw her shot rattle the crossbar.  2 minutes later Ruth Fahy rose to head home a Méabh De Búrca corner.  Although Galway dominated the opening half they could not add to their tally before the break.  On the hour mark Stafford did find the net when she poked home an Alana Moran cross.  McKey popped up for her second on 69 minutes.  On 89 minutes a McKey shot saw the post deny her a hat trick but 16 year old Róisín Jacob rattled the net with the rebound.
