Current Galway WFC and former Galway United manager Don O'Riordan has signed Galway teenager Ellerose O'Flaherty

to bolster his Continental Tyres Women's National League squad in time for the visit of champions Raheny United to Eamonn Deacy Park this Sunday.  16 years ago as manager of Galway United he signed her father, League of Ireland legend, Ricky for the Westerners.

Commenting on the signing Don O'Riordan said, "I am delighted to announce that we have added to our squad with the signing of Ellerose O'Flaherty who is another young local player with great potential. Her dad Ricky was a player I signed when I first arrived in Galway and his signature on the contract came 5 weeks before Ellerose was born which is a lovely coincidence.  I've told her Dad that he has a daughter who plays with the same energy as he did but Ellerose has more skill! Seriously we are thrilled to have her on board and feel she will be a really good addition to our squad going forward and I believe will make a big impact in the Continental Tyres WNL"

  • Ellerose has 1 week after her 16th birthday signed for Galway WFC - 16 years and 6 weeks (or 5,888 days to be exact) after Don signed her father Ricky,
  • Ellerose will be available for selection for the visit of Continental Tyres WNL Champions Raheny United to Eamonn Deacy Park on Sunday at 2pm
