Going in to week 6 of the Bus Eireann Women’s National League, Raheny were sitting top of the table with an undefeated record but this all changed after a 2-1 reverse away to Castlebar Celtic. Peamount survived a scare in Tallaght thanks to a late winner against Shamrock Rovers which saw them overtake Peamount to claim the top spot. Meanwhile, Cork returned to form with a victory over Wexford. It all adds up to an interesting run in over the next few months.

It was goals galore in the opening minutes of the Bus Éireann Women’s National League. Cork were first off the mark when Claudia Hudner found the back of the net within 2minutes at Ferrycarrig Park. Moments later it was Rovers who struck in Tallaght, Noelle Murray gave Rovers the lead. On the fourth minute it was Raheny who took the lead against Castlebar when Seanna Cooke hit the target.

Raheny United today (Sunday) retained their top of table position in the Bus Éireann National Women’s League with a thrilling 2-3 win over Wexford Youths Women’s team. Elsewhere in the fourth round of the Bus Éireann National Women’s League, Shamrock Rovers lost 0-1 to Cork Women’s FC in Tallaght Stadium, and Castlebar Celtic fell foul to Peamount United with a 1-4 loss in Celtic Park.
