Series 10 of the Bus Éireann Women’s National League will be remembered for Peamount United’s stunning 13-0 victory over Castlebar Celtic and for the performance of the league’s top scorer, Stephanie Roche, who scored 6 of those goals. Raheny only held onto their lead in the league for one week after their slip up at home to Wexford Youths handed the momentum back to Peamount. Cork’s recent run of good form continued as they had a good 2-0 victory over Shamrock Rovers to lift them to 3rd in the table.

Peamount Utd came back from the disappointment of losing last weekend’s top of the table clash against Raheny by scoring 13 goals without reply at home against Castlebar Celtic, this result put them back to the top of the table 1 point ahead as Raheny only managed a 1-1 draw against a brave Wexford Youths performance. Shamrock Rovers came back down to earth after their first victory last weekend losing by two goals in Cork.

Round 9 of the Bus Éireann Women’s National League was a memorable round for all of the away teams. Raheny visited Peamount and put in a spirited display that earned them 3 points and top spot in the league, Shamrock Rovers visited Wexford Youths and came out with their first win of the league and Cork Women’s FC travelled to Mayo and enjoyed a resounding 4-1 victory over their hosts.

The January Player of the Month award for the Bus Eireann Women’s National League was presented today to Emma Mullin from Castlebar Celtic. Emma has been one of the stand-out players in the league contributing no fewer than 10 of her teams 23 goals up to the end of January. Emma also chipped in with another goal for Celtic last weekend.

It was a massive round of games in the Bus Eireann Women’s National League at both ends of the table. Raheny came away from the top of the table clash with Peamount with all three points following a fine 2-0 victory to send them to the top of the league. Cork Women’s FC had a great away victory at Castlebar winning by 4 goals to 1 and leapfrogging Wexford Youths in the table. Wexford endured another difficult day at Ferrycarrig losing out to Shamrock Rovers who will be delighted to win their first match in the league. Round 9 was not a good round for teams playing at home as all the home sides suffered defeat.

The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) invites expressions of interest from clubs/entities who may be interested in participating in the Bus Eireann Women’s National League.

 

The successful applicants would compete in the 2012-13 Bus Eireann Women’s National League.
