Peamount United midfielder Niamh Farrelly has been named the Continental Tyres Women's National League Player of the Month for September.

The 19-year-old midfielder has had another fantastic season for the Newcastle club ahead of their Continental Tyres FAI Women's Cup Final date on Sunday against Wexford Youths at the Aviva Stadium.

Peamount will be aiming for a historic double after lifting the Continental Tyres Women's National League Cup after a 2-1 win over Sunday's opponents Wexford in September.

Farrelly has been called up to a number of Republic of Ireland Women's National Team squads during 2018 and has been ever-present for Peamount United throughout the campaign.

Farrelly was presented with the award at FAI HQ, Abbotstown by Ireland WNT Head Coach Colin Belll and Continental Tyres' Marketing Director Eddie Ryan.

"I'm delighted to win the Continental Tyres Women's National League Player of the Month award. It's a fantastic award to get and great recognition for the team as well," the Peas midfielder said.

"I really feel like it has been a good year for me and that I'm stepping up a level. I think the team has improved as the season has gone on and that has definitely helped me.

"It's a fantastic team to be a part of and we really can't wait for Sunday's final. The chance to play at the Aviva Stadium is a huge deal for us and we want to perform to our best levels.

"Obviously, winning the League Cup final gives us confidence going into the game but it's going to be really tough and we've got to be prepared for that."
