Bus Éireann Women’s National League Previews

Sunday, March 24

Castlebar Celtic v Peamount United, Celtic Park (2.00pm). Referee: TBC.

CASTLEBAR Celtic will be looking to put right a heavily slanted scoreline when they meet Peamount United on Sunday (pitch inspection allowing).

Peamount beat Celtic 8-1 when the sides last met in Greenogue and Castlebar boss John Morris-Burke does not believe that was a fair reflection on the game.

“Hopefully the game goes ahead. The last meeting with Peamount wasn’t an 8-1 game. If we’d taken our chances in first half we’d have made a different game of it. We’ll try to rectify that result and give them a game,” he said.

Celtic are without Shauna Jackson (chest infection) and Lisa Casserly who is on international duty. Peamount boss Eileen Gleeson said: “In fairness the last day it was a lot tighter in first half than the scoreline suggested but we can’t afford to drop any points at this stage of the season so we’ll go there looking to maximise the points on offer.”

Wexford Youths Women’s AFC v DLR Waves, Ferrycarrig Park (4.00pm). Referee: Michelle O’Neill.

THIS fixture has been changed to a 4.00pm kick-off. There will be a pitch inspection before the game.

Wexford are missing three players on U17 international duty Aisling Frawley, Ciara Rossiter and Lauren Dwyer. DLR Waves have everybody fit bar Carla Moran who is a long term absentee.

“We were disappointed to lose against Raheny United last time out. We had two golden chances to score before they opened the scoring. I’m not saying we deserve to win but we didn’t deserve to lose. Wexford are a good side so it will be a tough test,” said DLR Waves boss Larry Mahony.

Raheny United v Cork Women’s FC, Morton Stadium. MATCH POSTPONED.

This fixture has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course.
