Continental Tyres Women’s National League side Galway WFC have appointed former Galway United captain Billy Cleary as the new manager ahead of the 2017 season.

The club has also appointed Max Sweeney as assistant manager as they look ahead of improving results ahead of the summer season in the Women’s National League.

The appointment follows the resignation of former Don O’Riordan who guided Galway to 5th position in the 2016 season with 11 points.

Galway’s Chloe Moloney was named in the 2016 WNL Team of the Year at centre-back whilst Sadhbh Doyle was nominated for the Young Player of the Year award.
