Peamount United secured their first win of the season after Eleanor Ryan-Doyle netted an impressive hat-trick at Kilkenny United.

In a close encounter, it was the home side which went ahead in the first five minutes of the second-half.

One of Kilkenny's signings, Leanne Tumelty found the on-rushing Becky Conroy who was able to chip the keeper to put Kilkenny into a surprise 1-0 lead.

They almost doubled the lead just seven minutes later as Bronagh Kane saw her shot well saved as the potential for an opening day shock result continued to grow.

It sparked Peamount into life, who finished third last campaign, and former UCD Waves striker Ryan-Doyle netted a quickfire brace in the space of five minutes to put Peamount ahead for the first time.

Peas continued to increase the pace of the game in the final stages and stretched out their lead further as Megan Lynch added a third before Ryan-Doyle completed her hat-trick from the penalty spot.

Despite the defeat, Kilkenny will have plenty of positives coming out of the game as they look to improve on last season's bottom placed finish.
