Shelbourne Ladies got their first win of the season, and an emphatic one at that, claiming all three points in a 5-1 victory against Galway WFC at Morton Stadium.

Player of the game Roma McLaughlin grabbed herself a brace in the rout and put in a top class performance in the No.10 role. The first goal in particular was outstanding, turning two players in the middle of the park and hitting an unstoppable drive from 25-yards.

Discussing her own performance and first goal she said humbly, “I am delighted to get off the mark, it has taken me a few games but I just thought id take the chance and hit it. Just glad it went in!

“The early goal settled us though. We started quick and gave us a lot of confidence going forward.”

The Irish international‘s second came with minutes remaining when she found herself one on one and showed a cool head and to slot home to make it five.

The talented attacker felt a performance like this was coming and went onto say, “We have this in us, it was disappointing to draw so many games at the start but delighted to finally get the win under our belts and hopefully kick start a run to get us back into the title race.

“Definitely our best performance of the season so far for sure.”

Roma and her teammates showed why they are reigning Champions showing their quality throughout and don’t look like giving up their title without a fight if tonight is anything to go by.
