Wexford Youths WFC made the most of their home advantage as they secured a 2-1 victory over UCD Waves in Ferrycarrig Park.

Goals from Claire O'Riordan and Rianna Jarrett gave Wexford's title hope a huge lift as they collected three valuable points.

The hosts handed a first start to Katrina Parrock and looked to have an edge to their play throughout as they stretched UCD all over the pitch.

Yet it was two familiar faces who eventually led the way as O'Riordan fired in the opening goal on 71 minutes before substitute Jarrett got her first goal upon returning from injury.

UCD did pull one back through Sinead Gaynor but it wasn't enough for the Dublin side to turn the momentum in their favour.

The home team got another boost late on when Edel Kennedy appeared as a substitute following a long injury lay-off. And that signed off a good night for them.
