Shannon Parbat scored on her senior debut as Limerick secured a hard-fought point away to UCD Waves at the Belfield Bowl on Sunday afternoon.

Parbat got on the end of fellow debutante Sophie Liston's cross to level out Leanne Payne's first-half opener and secure a result that had looked wholly unlikely.

It was déja vu for the home side who, having vacated their usual home of Jackson Park for the month, let a deserved lead slip for the second week running to Munster opposition.

Striker Carla Moran headed against the post from captain Chloe Mustaki's corner after just ten minutes.

Dearbhaile Beirne rippled the side netting before Parbat had a glorious chance to give Limerick the lead against the run of play, but Erica Turner stuck out a boot to deny her one-on-one.

The Blues began to look increasingly ragged as half time approached and Waves upped the tempo, and there was little surprise when the deadlock was broken.

With Limerick captain Therese Hartley off receiving treatment for a knock to the foot, UCD took full advantage of the greater numbers with a slick team move.

Mustaki's perfectly-weighted ball over the top found Beirne wide on the left and, beating Marie Curtin for pace, she whipped in a cross Payne had only to nod into an empty net.

Moran had a goal disallowed for a tight offside call before a trip from Blues keeper Trish Fennelly on Beirne gave UCD a penalty, but Sinead Gaynor hit the post from 12 yards.

Within five minutes Limerick were back on terms as Curtin's long ball sent half-time sub Liston free on the right and she fizzed a low ball across the six-yard box for Parbat to turn home.

The visitors could have snatched the win during nine minutes of injury time as Rebecca Horgan found herself one-on-one with Turner, but she flashed her shot agonisingly past the post.
