Cork City's Eabha O'Mahony has been named the Continental Tyres Women's National League Player of the Match for August.

The 16-year old has had a fantastic break-through season following her move to the WNL club from Lakewood Athletic and wins the award for August.

The Republic of Ireland Women's Under-17 international has received senior international recognition having been called up to the senior squad earlier this year and is a regular at Colin Bell's home-based training sessions.

O'Mahony is set to travel to Serbia with the Ireland WU17 squad later this month as they face the host nation, Albania and Wales in their UEFA European Championships qualifying round.

O'Mahony was presented with the award following the Continental Tyres Women's National League Development Shield Final on Sunday and she was delighted with the award.

"I'm delighted to win the award," said the former Lakewood Athletic star.

"I've really enjoyed the season so far, stepping up to senior level and I really hope to keep progressing towards the end of the season.

"I want to thank all of my team-mates who've helped me in my first season. All of the senior players have been great with me as well and I'm really happy playing at the club.

"Most of all, I want to thank my parents for giving me a lift to training all of the time."
