Athlone Town AFC are the newest club to be welcomed into the Só Hotels Women's National League ahead of the 2020 season.

After celebrating the 2019 campaign with the Só Hotels Women's National League awards at the Castle Oaks Hotels last Saturday, the focus now turns towards the new season, which will kick off in March 2020.

And the good news has already started to roll in with Athlone Town AFC being accepted into the League.

The club have competed in the Women's Under-17 National League since 2018 and this move is part of their ongoing development - on and off the pitch.

In fact, a number of the club's players have already started to stand out, with Kayleigh Shine earning a place in the Republic of Ireland Women's Under-19 squad for UEFA European Championship qualifiers this year.

Also, Bray Wanderers will enter a team into the U-17 League for next season - bringing the total number of teams up to 13.
