Semi-final: Peamount United 6 Shamrock Rovers 1

PEAMOUNT United secured their place in the Éireann Women’s National League Cup Final after a comfortable victory over Shamrock Rovers at Greenogue today.

Eileen Gleeson’s side produced a top class second half display to ensure another final for the Peas.

Aine O’Gorman opened the scoring with the first Peamount goal six minutes in after Sara Lawlor produced some good hold up play before laying it off for O’Gorman to sweep home.

Rovers ensured the rest of the opening half remained a tight affair but went 2-0 down early in the second half when Lawlor scored with an impressive header. Stephanie Roche made it 3-0 as the Peas upped the ante.

Rovers scored through Aisling Cusack after some decent play with ten minutes left to bring it back to 3-1 but Jetta Berrill, Roche and O’Gorman all added late strikes to put the Hoops to the sword.

On Friday Raheny United beat DLR Waves in the re-arranged First Round tie at Jackson Park and will meet Castlebar Celtic in the semi-finals.  The only goal of the game came from Katie McCabe who was later shown red card for kicking out at an opponent.  DLR Waves pushed hard to sent the game into extra time but keeper Niamh Reid Burke pulled off some good saves at cruicial times for Raheny.

So its Raheny United that will travel to Castlebar for their semi final tie.  Date is yet to be set for this fixture.
