Castlebar stun Raheny to reach Bus Éireann WNL Cup Final

Castlebar Celtic 3 Raheny United 1

A brace from Shaunagh Jackson fired Castlebar Celtic into the final of the Bus Éireann Women's National League Cup after they overcame Raheny United in Celtic Park this afternoon.

Raheny went into the game chasing a domestic treble having already lifted the FAI Umbro Women’s Senior Cup and sitting top of the Women's National League with one game to go on Sunday.

Sean Byrne's side got off to a superb start with in-form Rebecca Creagh opening the scoring early on with a fine strike and they held that one-goal lead going in at half-time.

Castlebar, who were beaten 5-0 in the league by Raheny last Saturday, bounced back with Jackson levelling matters to give John Morris-Burke's team hope of mounting a comeback.

They did exactly that when Jackson got her second of the game before Katie Walsh wrapped up the victory with a late penalty. There was no way back for the visitors despite their positive play.

Castlebar will now go on to meet Peamount United, who previously beat Shamrock Rovers in their semi-final, when the final is played later this month.
