Continental Tyres Women’s National League Cup Quarter-Final

Wexford Youths Women’s AFC 2-1 UCD Waves

KYLIE Murphy’s injury-time penalty kick sent defending champions Wexford Youths Women’s into the Continental Tyres Women’s League Cup Semi-final tonight.

Clare O’Riordan gave Youths the lead after just nine minutes on a bitterly cold evening in Ferrycarrig Park with her seventh goal of the season in all competitions.

Caroline Thorpe pulled a deserved equaliser back for the visitors seven minutes from time and appeared have sent the tie to extra-time.

Two minutes into injury-time Murphy converted her third penalty of the season to keep the Model County outfit on course to retain their League Cup trophy.

Youth’s join Galway WFC and Peamount United in this seasons semi-final with the remaining place between Castlebar Celtic and Raheny United to be decided in the New Year.
