UCD Waves got back to winning ways by landing a 4-1 win over Cork City WFC.
Orlagh Nolan opened the scoring for UCD, heading Julie-Anne Russell’s cross past Cork goalkeeper Trish Fennelly after four minutes.
Aine O’Gorman doubled the lead for the hosts on 23 minutes, chipping the advancing Fennelly from close range with Nolan grabbing her second five minutes later.
Ciara Desmond pulled a goal back for the visitors on 63 minutes after a Megan Kelleher pull back, before Jetta Berrill made it 4-1 to UCD with 20 minutes remaining, finishing off Caroline Thorpe’s through ball.
“That was a very good win and I’m very happy to get back to winning ways,” explained UCD boss Eileen Gleeson.
“I don’t think the League table is telling the true story of the season,” added Gleeson whose side currently lie joint third. “There is still lots of football to be played.”
The games between Peamount United and Wexford Youths Women WFC, Castlebar Celtic and Galway WFC and Kilkenny United WFC against Shelbourne Ladies FC were postponed.
A new date for the three fixtures will be announced in due course.
