Galway WFC sit three points clear at the top of the Continental Tyres Women’s National League after a 4-0 victory over Cork City WFC.
Chloe Moloney opened the scoring for Don O'Riordan's side on 22 minutes, heading home a Lynsey McKey corner, with Therese Hartley making it 2-0 from the penalty spot on 36 minutes.
Elle Rose O’Flaherty then blasted in on 68 minutes finishing off a Jess Nolan cross after being released by McKey.
McKey rounded off the scoring in the final minute of play, finishing off Ashlinn Meaney’s cross to make it 4-0 and move Galway clear at the top of the table, three points ahead of Wexford Youths WFC.
Elsewhere, Shelbourne Ladies FC and UCD Waves played out a 1-1 draw in Morton Stadium in their first meeting of the season.
Dearbhaile Beirne gave the Red Pandas a 40th-minute lead in what had been a close encounter with both goalkeepers Niamh Reid-Burke and Monica McGuirk producing good saves.
Chloe Mustaki‘s sweet 78th-minute free-kick, which was her first goal of the season, saved a point for UCD.
Shels boss Casey McQuillan admitted he was “unhappy" with the draw as he felt his team should have gone on to collect the three points.
“Although I thought UCD finished very strongly and a draw isn’t the worst result for us,” added McQuillan.
Meanwhile, Peamount United secured their second away victory on the trot with a convincing 6-0 win over Castlebar Celtic in Celtic Park.
Castlebar had goalkeeper Louise Creaven to thank for some excellent first-half saves, before Lauren Kelly gave Peamount the lead on 27 minutes.
Roma McLaughlin made it 2-0 to Peamount before half-time with a 35-yard strike. Sarah McKevitt’s through ball then allowed Claire Kinsella to make it 3-0 on the hour mark.
Five minutes later Kinsella had her second goal, finishing off a pass from McLaughlin. Then McKevitt struck twice late on to see Peamount pick up a big win.
The tie between Kilkenny United WFC and Wexford was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course.
