Galway WFC continued their fantastic start to the season by collecting a second straight win, while Peamount United and UCD Waves also picked up three points apiece.

After sweeping past Kilkenny United WFC last week, Galway made their first appearance at Eamonn Deacy Park this term as they took on Cork City WFC and it ended in a 3-0 triumph for the hosts.

Experienced forward Lynsey McKey opened the scoring after 13 minutes, while Meabh De Burca made it 2-0 early in the second period before Shauna Fox wrapped things up with a sweet finish.

In the other game on Saturday evening, Peamount stunned champions Wexford Youths by securing a 1-0 win courtesy of a first-half strike from debutant Heather Payne.

The new-look Peas team started brightly and took the lead on 20 minutes when Galway girl Payne tucked in a cross from Sarah McKevitt. That goal proved to be the difference in spite of efforts from Wexford's Emma Hansberry, Maria Delahunty, and Linda Douglas.

On Sunday afternoon, UCD Waves recorded a 5-0 win over Kilkenny at Jackson Park with Aine O'Gorman and Dearbhaile Beirne netting two each, while Orlagh Nolan was also on target.

The game, which was live streamed by FAI TV, showcased UCD's attacking quality with four of the goals arriving in the first period. But Kilkenny improved after the interval and showed signs of learning from earlier mistakes.

The result leaves UCD on a high with four points from two games, but Galway remain the team to catch with two wins collected.

Shelbourne Ladies had a bye week.
