Shelbourne Ladies manager Danny Crowley was delighted with the character and reaction that the girls showed in the second half on Sunday after a tough first half which saw two of their players carted off in separate ambulances.

Shelbourne turned on the style in the second half with a brilliant team performance to win the game by an impressive 4-0 scoreline. Shels boss Crowley was delighted to see their hard work pay-off and to get the result they deserved.

“I was absolutely delighted with the performance we put together in the second half," Danny said after the game

“Obviously, it was a tough first half for us to see two of our players taken away in two ambulances but to come out in the second half and play the way we did I’m absolutely delighted.

“It’s the best half of football we’ve produced so far this season and the key now is to try and drive on and find that consistent level of performance and just take it game by game.”

On Player of the Match Izzy Atkinson, Danny was delighted with how she performed and says that the recent senior international experience is great for her and for the entire squad in terms of confidence and development.

“I was absolutely delighted with the shift she put in when she came on and it will do her confidence the world of good with the positive impact she made when she came on.

“Her set pieces are absolutely fantastic and it will be so important to have that as we face into each game."

Up next for Shels is an away trip against UCD Waves this Sunday where they will look to pick up where they left off last Saturday in terms of performance and will be eyeing another three points.
